books i want to read during fall

hello magical reader, I hope you’re doing well! today I’d like to show you a bunch of books that have, in my opinion, “fall vibes”. spooky, eerie, atmospheric, dark reads, that’s what I’m talking about! you can consider this my potential TBR. I probably won’t be able to read all of them in the following months, but I’ll do my best to mostly pick between these books during the spooky season!

a book I am most definitely reading this fall (hopefully the day it gets released) is The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. we all know how excited to read this book as it is my most anticipated release of this year! (I even dreamed about receiving a ARC in the mail… don’t judge me).

Mexican Gothic is a book I wasn’t really interested in… until I heard it’s about a haunted mansion?! this book is also the October pick for Chloe‘s patreon book club and I’m really excited to join as this will be my first time!

another new release I’m very excited about is A Deadly Education, which I pre-orderd the Owlcrate edition. dark academia vibes with monsters? sign me tf up.

in july I read The Archived for the Schwab Readalong which I am co-hosting, and it has the best spooky vibes so I hope to read its sequel during spooky season!

I’ve been wanting to read The Beautiful literally since its release which is now almost a year ago (huh?!!). this book is set in New Orleans, it has a murder mystery and vampires… do I need to say more? I don’t think so.

Magic For Liars is another murder mystery book, this time set in a magical school. I’ve been seeing not-so-great reviews about this book, mostly that it’s underwhelming, so I’m a bit scared but I’m still intrigued.

next is another book that I have been meaning to read every. single. year. for spooky season. I think I have owned The Diviners for 3 years (?) and I still haven’t read it. I basically don’t know anything about this book except that the audiobook is apparently very creepy.

Cemetery Boys is a very recent book release that is so incredibly well loved on book twitter. again, I don’t know much about the plot, but I know it had spooky vibes. also, the author and the main character are trans and it makes me so happy that the book is getting a lot of attention.

another book that screams “halloween!!!” is The Devouring Gray. this book is apparently similar to Stranger Things and most of the main characters are bisexuals. also my physical copy is very floppy and that makes me happy…

next we have two books with the most gorgeous covers! the first one is These Witches Don’t Burn. this book sounds so fun, it has witches but it feels like a contemporary more than a fantasy book, which sounds perfect if I wan’t a quick read.

the other gorgeous book is The Scapegracers, which you might have already seen on my blog. I wanted to read the e-ARC I had gotten on netgalley before its release, but I wasn’t able to do so. that being said, I’m still really excited to read a book in which the popular kids in high school are actually a coven of witches?! that sounds like a lot of drama and I am so here for it.

last but definitely not least, we have The Library of the Unwritten. this book might be one of the most intriguing on this list because it’s about a library in hell where books that are unfinished are kept. the characters of these books try to escape hell to find their author and beg them to finish writing the book. it’s the librarian’s job to keep these characters in hell but obviously one escapes, and that’s where the story starts. this sounds so original!!!

have you read any of these books? did you enjoy them? what’s your fall tbr?

thank you so much for reading, and until next time β™‘
